As Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is drawing to a close, players will come across a Nevron named Chalier. Chalier is not only a friendly man, but also someone who wishes to battle against the party member. This Nevron side quest is one of the last before the main quest. In order to get to Chalier at the Floating Cemetery, Esquie must fly. At this point, you should have all core characters like Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Verso and Monoco.
Chalier is different from previous encounters with Nevron in that the story makes fight him even though he is not a hostile (by default). Earlier Nevron quests had peaceful ways of solving confrontations but this one does not.

The Duel With Chalier: Chosen Weapons And Fight
In the Floating Cemetery is Chalier, who waits before a heap of bones.
He gets the players to pick a spear, a sword, or a hammer. This choice isn’t very impactful for the fight we’re about to have. Once the player makes a choice, Chalier says he will wait in a nearby building where the battle takes place.
Following the duel, Chalier asks the player to kill him. The player of the game now will need to decide whether to grant the wish or save him instead.
The alternative that you choose here leads to different outcomes and payoffs.
Killing Chalier.
- When players fulfill his request, they will gain an Auto Powerful Picto, which gives a Powerful buff to the character, in the first 3 turns of future battles.
Sparing Chalier.
- If spared, Chalier expresses his disappointment and asks you to leave. When players come back, they find Chalier has offed himself with a large reward that is 11,680 Chroma on the ground.
If you choose to spare Chalier, you will get a nice Chroma boost soon after, which makes it a nice option if you need resources before the end.
End-Game Implications: The Blanche Encounter
Once the Chalier dilemma is resolved, those who spared him (and other Nevrons) should visit the floating island named The Fountain near Spring Meadows. Here, Blanche awaits. If the player has spared all Nevrons throughout the game, Blanche gives the player 100 Colour of Lumina as a reward.
If any Nevrons—including Chalier—are dead she goes hostile and the end game is difficult To make it through this challenge, players must be Level 80 minimum. On beating Blanche, you’ll get 10 Colour of Lumina and 2 Grandiose Chroma Catalyst, rewards which are smaller than what you get for sparing.
Summary: Which Path to Take?
Your choices and actions have real consequences in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Consider your answer carefully regarding whether to kill or spare Chalier as how you answer the question will impact your rewards. Getting Chalier to spare a chroma reward, but more generally (i.e. in the later stages of the game) if all Nevrons are spared. People who seek a rare buff should consider granting Chalier’s wish. Make your choice wisely, it will play a big role in the last few missions of the game.
