Death Stranding 2 How to Get and Use Vehicles

One does not just walk in Death Stranding 2 as the game’s trailers have shown us. Although walking is important, we need vehicles to carry heavy orders and lessen the burden of travelling long distances.  This guide explains how to unlock and use two important vehicles: the Tri-Cruiser and the Pickup Off-Roader.

Unlocking the Tri-Cruiser

After finishing Order 6, you unlock a Tri-Cruiser, your first vehicle. After Deadman jogs your memory and a hologram of Fragile interacts with you. Once they finish a call with Fragile and resurface, they find Alex at the Former Geophysicists Research Lab, who provides them with a new order for Tri-Cruiser fabrication.

To make the Tri-Cruiser, visit your garage and click on “Fabricate a Vehicle”. As long as the required 220 Metals, 160 Ceramics and 10 Chemicals are made available, the vehicle can be constructed by the players. You can choose from different colours and decals for the vehicle, and it can be recycled if unused.

Unlocking the Pickup Off-Roader

The Pickup Off-Roader becomes available after Order 13 and holds double the cargo of the Tri-Cruiser. This bigger rig does not move as fast because it is much heavier, but it is able to haul a lot more, making it suited for larger deliveries. Moreover, the highly functional suspension enables manoeuvrability over difficult terrain like a jump free of rocks.

Making this vehicle takes 320 metals, 230 ceramics, and 20 chemicals.

Comparing the Tri-Cruiser and Pickup Off-Roader

There are two types of vehicles in Death Stranding 2. The Tri-Cruiser is useful for speed and quick deliveries. It can carry lighter loads and travel fast. On the other hand, Pickup Off-Roader is a heavy-load transporting and weapon outfitted offensive vehicle.

Players can equip the Pickup Off-Roader with weapons such as the Sticky Cannon, Heavy Machine Gun, or Chiral Cannon to enable combat while driving. In total, two weapons can be simultaneously equipped alongside up to six accessory slots for items like additional batteries.

Similarly, the Tri-Cruiser features six attaches but placing all may obstruct side cargo attachments. A unique feature of the Tri-Cruiser is the ability for its front wheels to convert into blades, allowing the Tri-Cruiser to cut through steep mountain paths.

Managing Vehicle Load and Performance

Knowing each vehicle’s weight and capacity limits is essential. If your cargo exceeds capacity, you cannot board the vehicle. Similarly, if your weight limit is exceeded, the vehicle will slow down. This may leave the players behind the vehicle.  It is important to keep an eye on these factors so that one can deliver effectively and travel smoothly.
