Primary Guilds and Secondary Organisations

Five main guilds control the political and social spheres.

  • Arena.
  • Fighters Guild.
  • Mages Guild.
  • Thieves Guild.
  • Dark Brotherhood.

Apart from these core groups, there are many small factions present throughout Cyrodiil. Most of these groups require doing simple tasks to join. They provide some perks but mostly don’t have any real influence.  Examples include the Blackwood Company, The Blades, Knights of the Nine, Order of the Dragon, and the Order of the Virtuous Blood.

The Arena: The Secret to Riches and Glory

The Arena is the easiest and most rewarding faction for beginning adventurers. After the sewer escape at the beginning, the player should head upstairs towards the Market District, then continue on to the Arena District where the colosseum is situated on the left-hand side.

Joining the Arena

To become an official member, you need to head down to Bloodworks and look for Owyn, a simple Redguard who does the job of getting new members. You will be given an option of Heavy armor or Light armor at registration. Competitors go through nine prestigious ranks from Pit Dog to Grand Champion, increasing fame and serious gold for each fight win.

Fighters Guild: Daring Contracts for Mercenaries

Warriors that prefer heavy armor and fighting with melee weapons find great advatages in the Fighters Guild. This organization uses hired help to deal with local issues like goblins and rats. They also go into dangerous dungeons and fight other mercs. By completing a quest, you will earn gold, fame, and sometimes rare equipment.

Fighters Guild Locations

You can apply to become a member at any of these Fighters Guilds.

Anvil (contact Azzan).

Cheydinhal (speak with Burz gro-Khash).

Chorrol (approach Vilena Donton).

Mages Guild: Mastering Magical Knowledge

If you want to level up with a spellcaster, you might like to progress in the Mages Guild. Members advance through a hierarchy, from Associate onward, ultimately reaching the Arch-Mage rank and possibly leading the whole thing. To begin with go to Guild Halls found in Anvil, Bravil, Bruma, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, Leyawiin and Skingrad.

Gaining Full Membership

Every administrator of the guild hall assigns location-specific tasks. You’ll have to finish all seven quests to gain access to the Arcane University in the Imperial City.  A chat with Raminus Polus here will formally induct you into the guild and begin your magical career advancement.

Thieves Guild: Functioning in the Shadows

The Thieves Guild isn’t like the other guilds. Instead of requiring brute force, they require cunning and patience. Three established methods provide entry opportunities.

Method One: Criminal Activity

Commit theft, fight, or trespass on purpose until law enforcement arrests you. You’ll be approached with an offer by a Thieves Guild agent whilst in prison.

Method Two: Imperial City Investigation

In the Imperial City Waterfront District, speak to beggars and guards about The Gray Fox legend. This will make plans for a secret meeting at midnight.

Method Three: Bravil Contact

You can find City-Swimmer, a homeless Argonian in the city of Bravil who will give you a hint at the guild about the Gray Fox if you talk to him.

All recruitment paths lead to a secret meeting at midnight which takes place in the Garden of Dareloth in the Waterfront district of the Imperial City. Joining opportunities are offered to potential new members.

Dark Brotherhood: Accepting the Darkness

Joining the Dark Brotherhood is the easiest out of every other faction, yet it requires some questionable things.  Once you killed your first innocent target, a message appears suggesting that your actions have attracted someone mysterious. When you sleep in safe places, such as inn rooms, you will be contacted by Lucien Lachance, speaker of the Brotherhood.

Lachance teaches you how to join their deadly organization, setting you on a path of stealthy kill contracts and morally grey tasks.
