Le Mans Virtual Series will make a comeback after almost two years. Sim racing’s newest championship, with the qualifiers held in the late 2020s will welcome both sim racers as well as professional racers together for a competition on the lines of traditional motorsport.
A Fresh Platform for the Series
This year, the Le Mans Virtual Series will move to the Le Mans Ultimate game, overturning the decision of Motorsport Games after the title’s withdrawal from early access in July. Motorsport Games is serious about esports so they have shifted Le Mans Ultimate to be the home for the series. The venue replaces rFactor 2, which had hosted the race in the past.
The inclusion of team events in Le Mans Ultimate has accelerated company leadership’s vision to relaunch the world’s leading racing esports tournament. The motorsport games ceo stated during the call for q2 2025 earnings that with the now-available features, the le mans virtual series is ready for its return, with the finale taking place the following year and qualifiers starting in the last quarter of this year.
Innovations in Team Racing
This year we’ve gone big. Swaps between drivers were tested at the 6 Hours of Qatar. Through this update, over 6,000 sim racers and 1,500 teams signed up on the platform, showcasing its adaptability to multi-driver formats and opening doors for more dynamic team competitions.

The Series’ Unique Appeal
Le Mans Virtual Series was created in 2020 to provide a racing alternative during lockdowns. It soon gained recognition for incorporating the capabilities of both sim racers as well as real-world drivers in a multi-round championship.
Even with an encouraging beginning, the series was on hold after the 202324 edition where technical issues created large inconveniences to top competitors, including the four-time Formula One champion Max Verstappen.
What to Expect from the 2025 Qualifiers
According to Motorsport Games, qualification details for next year’s edition will be announced shortly. In previous years, the Le Mans Virtual Cup served as a stepping stone for aspiring drivers. The winners were then offered invites to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual with well-known virtual and real-world players from the racing industry.
Ahead of a thrilling season set to commence in January 2025, the Le Mans Virtual Series will be open for entries in mid-November 2024.
