The recent arrival of Beavis and Butt-Head in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has sparked another round of debate over weird skins in the game. The two cultural icons from the MTV generation in the 1990s, known for their crude humour and slacker antics, are going to war… figuratively speaking, of course.
This show, created by Mike Judge, is all about the nonsense judgments on rock music, youth and more. Now, they are joining the Call of Duty skins roster with military attire while keeping their cartoonish aesthetics. A surprising crossover it is!
More Tactical Than Expected
What’s throwing players for a loop is the contrast between their usual silly look and realistic military gear, based on the “MilSim” style. One player on Reddit commented that out of all the collabs that do military-style outfits, the last one they are expecting is Beavis and Butt-Head formed outfits. One player added that these skins are ironically more authentic than many other skins in the game.
The Call of Duty community reacted with laughter, putting in-game qoutes in the mouths of the characters with one quip making a playful jibe about the word “Duty” in Beavis and Butt-Head style.
Strange Skins Are Nothing New
The two are actually not out of place considering there are already crossovers with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, warriors who resemble medieval style Dragon Knights, and quite a skin made entirely out of bacon strips. Some fans have raised concerns about the clashes between zany cosmetics and a serious game. However, these skins are commercially successful.
Activision keeps coming out with these striking bundles. Even though players complain about realism, the strong sales ensure the cycle continues.
Pricing And Monetisation Concerns
It remains to be seen how much the Beavis and Butt-Head bundle will cost. Activision has been getting a lot of flack over the monetisation of Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Players have complained about costly cosmetic bundles, new event passes, and premium battle passes.
Earlier this month, Activision stated that the ads used in loadout menu were part of a test feature that would not be made public. Modern Warfare 2 launched at $70 and Black Ops 6 will retail for $70. Black Ops 7 would be the first game to launch at $80.
It is unknown if the Beavis and Butt-Head skins will be available in BO7. While Activision has not provided confirmation of compatibility, the mid-season release timing has raised expectations that the bundle may make its way into future entries.
Comic Relief Or Competitive Disadvantage?
It seems that some speculate wearing the skins may have a negative effect on your gameplay. Some players go as far as saying that Beavis and Butthead are easier to spot and kill, thus a pay-to-lose skin.
Release Date Anticipation
While Activision has not shared any official launch date for the Season 4 Reloaded update yet, players expect this update to launch around 26 June. This estimate is based on how many days left there are in the current Season 4 battle pass.
Until then, fans can keep joking, guessing, and deciding whether Beavis and Butt-Head are worth the price — for jokes and games.
