Expanding Alma’s Look In Monster Hunter Wilds

The Monster Hunter Wilds companion updates has focusing on Alma, your handler, and she has some new outfits! You have always been able to customise your player, from your hunters, Palicoes and Seikret. However, this update adds new clothing and shades specifically for Alma. Using these new features, such as the glasses, will require more than just a download.

Accessing Alma’s New Outfits

While there’s no change to Alma’s base outfit, players now have the option of three new styles.  You can claim these through the in-game user-interface or your console online store.

First, speak to a Support Deck Palico at a base camp or the Grand Hub. Next, go to the Add-Ons menu and search for the clothes packs from Alma.

  • Free Scrivener’s Coat – a nostalgic look inspired by her starting outfit
  • New world commission outfit – A look inspired by a past handler’s outfit. Price: $5.99 USD.
  • Spring Blossom Kimono – a festive garment made for the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance. Also $5.99 USD, free use for the this event.

After you buy or download any of those, go to a tent, access the Appearance Menu, select Change Appearance, then Change Alma’s Outfit. You’ll then have a new option where you can choose between Almas default clothing and any newly-added clothes.

Unlocking The Eyewear Questline

Along with the clothes, the update brings in glasses for Alma, even though they are part of a secret side quest.  Upon update installation, upon interacting with Alma, she will say a line mentioning that her glasses have vanished. She thinks they might have lost somewhere in the Scarlet Forest and that launches a quest called The Apple of Her Eye.

First, travel to the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest and talk to Thunk. Lost things go with the flow of the river, he commented. A soft marker will then appear on your map. The fastest way is to Seikret as you travel north from Area One base camp.

A Wudwud who points downstream will eventually meet you. If you wait there for a short time, a small Wudwud wearing Alma’s glasses in the inverted position will come running to that hiding place. After reaching there, Thunk tells that help from Wudwud can only be secured when they are celebrating. To proceed, rest until nighttime in the season of plenty.

Navigating The Wudwud Festivities

When the festival begins, go to the top of the hideout and speak to the Wudwuds. They’ll offer some trading goods, a hint, and a side note suggesting the Wudwud Ayejack is the one for the glasses. However, no direct waypoint is provided.

To find him, go down a level and check under the leaf pouches that Wudwud use to rest. Ayejack is sleeping in a pouch close to a well-known trader Musharpeye. Ayejack is inside a pouch hanging at the base of a large tree while Musharpeye sleeps atop the pouch. When you go near him a quest marker appears.

Securing The Trade For Alma’s Red Glasses

After Ayejack is awake, he offers a trade: Alma’s glasses for some Eastern Honey.  This item can be sourced through several methods.

  • Capturing Vigorwasps.
  • Occasionally as a reward from Event Quests.
  • Gathering honey, with a low drop rate.
  • Trading with Ren at Sild – The Keeper’s Vigil in Wyveria.
  • Trading with Gawdygog at the Wudwud Hideout.

Once you got the Eastern Honey, return to Ayejack to complete the trade. When Alma receives the glasses, she will be very thankful, and they will become a permanent part of her outfit. Next time Players are at a tent, they will be able to choose her red glasses or an alternate square frame.

Hunter Crafting Options For Glasses

These new glasses offer more than visual customisation. Hunters can craft red high rank armor and square high rank armor. The Strategist Spectacles and the Square Glasses are a strong utility items that provide max ranks to the Geologist and Botanist skills. They are thus especially useful for players with a material focus.

Future Of Alma’s Personalisation

This update highlights an increasing recognition of Alma’s personalisation, denoting a departing away from solely hunter-related customisation. There will be more handler-focused additions in future due to its downloads history.  It is unclear whether future items will also come with a charge or be available for free.
