The addition of coral to Minecraft’s aquatic biomes certainly beautifies the ocean, but many players don’t realize they are different and special. Since it was added in July 2018, coral has added colour to ocean biomes and will animate underwater exploration despite its specialised uses and limited applications.
All types of coral that occur in the game are present in the ocean naturally. They can be found in warm ocean biomes which include tube coral, fire coral, horn coral, bubble coral, brain coral and their respective fan shape versions. These corals make incredible reefs, but they need to be underwater to survive. Coral will lose its colour and die quickly after being separated from water sources and will become a dull grey, termed dead coral.
Effective Coral Collection Strategies
To harvest coral successfully, you need tools enchanted with Silk Touch. Coral breaks immediately when it is taken. That is a lot easier than extensive mining operations that a lot of other materials require. This makes it much easier to get the coral. This is important because the divers have to come from above water to mine it. In exchange for emeralds, Wandering Traders sometimes offer coral blocks for trade, giving players another way to obtain these decorative items.
After collection, coral can only be used for decorative purposes. Coral is not used for making anything else. So, we can say that the main value of coral is for decorative purposes.
Creative Applications for Coral in Base Design
By collecting coral properly, players can use these colourful blocks to beautify lakes, rivers, or aquariums in their base structures for aquatic animals. Showing coral on land is far more challenging.
Corals are said to do well outside of water so long as they are able to stay moist and wet. This feature allows creative builders to use coral in outdoor architecture that requires irrigation for continuous water contact (e.g., through spraying or other less obvious sytems).
Advanced Coral Fan Placement Techniques
When placing coral fans, players can use a waterlogged sand block to help remove blooms. Prior to placing coral fans, pour water onto the sand blocks. This method allows coral to keep on glowing and remain colourful no matter where you place them in your world, provided the block they are on stays waterlogged.
By using this method, we can include flowers on the corals, which will create humanly imaginative elements for different settings.
