The upcoming Exodus game is one of the most intriguing sci-fi RPGs in development at present — and for good reason. Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by ex-BioWare veterans, is working on a new space-faring adventure titled Exodus. It will bring deep storytelling and choice-driven gameplay.
Here’s everything we know about the Exodus game so far.

A Spiritual Successor to Mass Effect
At the heart of the hype is the pedigree of the team. Archetype Entertainment has key talent from the legendary Mass Effect games and the DNA is apparent from the Exodus game, which looks to boast heavy narrative and player-impactful choices in sci-fi settings.
The debut cinematic trailer on The Game Awards 2023 teased our first glance at a galaxy on the brink of destruction, time dilation, and powerful alien forces. If that rings a bell, you aren’t far from right.
Time Is the Enemy in Exodus
The Exodus game’s main mechanic about time-travel is one of its more interesting aspects. The protagonist (main character) travels very deep in to space at nearly light speed. When he returns from a mission, he discovers that decades or even centuries have passed for the riffraff (the rest of the world).
Not only does this concept help flesh out the game world, it’s said to be a gameplay mechanic itself. While you are gone, your family, your world, and even factions will change. The choices won’t just have consequences; they will echo through time.
Gameplay and Sci-Fi Setting
Although there is no direct footage of gameplay available yet, developers have suggested that Exodus Universe will feature some combination of third-person exploration, dialogue choices, and cinematic combat. Look forward to massive environments, perhaps across multiple habitable planets and cultures, along with rich branching storylines.
The world will be set in an original universe (not IP) so the team will have creative freedom to expand lore, philosophy, and aliens in new ways.
Release Date and Platforms
The Exodus game is being made for next-gen consoles that would probably be PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5. While no formal release date has been revealed yet, most people expect a launch window of late 2025 or 2026, given the development stage.
Why Exodus Game Is Worth Waiting
Due to its brilliant development team and incredibly ambitious narrative scope, the Exodus game is an outlier in the RPG space. It’s not merely another space shooter. It’s aiming to be a philosophical journey filled with emotions where the manipulation of time is going to be a part of storytelling.
No matter if you’re an experienced BioWare fanatic or new to sci-fi RPGs, Exodus is one to watch.
