Xbox’s Massive June Update: Unifying Gaming for the Next Generation

With the June update from Xbox, it marks a significant step towards one platform for all your games. With this launch, we are another step closer to fully integrated Xbox and PC gaming ecosystems for the players.

One of the most significant additions in this update is the start of testing that lets gamers launch Steam games through the Xbox PC app. Microsoft’s efforts could bring gaming to gaming consoles, mobile devices and more at the same time as they hope to reach across PC, console and mobile. The rollout suggests a future where gamers can use one platform for all their games, no matter the launcher.

Introducing Xbox Co-Pilot for Gaming

Another new thing is the Co-Pilot for Gaming beta, which is now on mobile. Co-Pilot is an AI-powered personal assistant that helps players through tough times and solves in-game puzzles. In the past, players may have looked to outside help, but Co-Pilot helps out instantly, keeping players in the game. At the moment, the Xbox mobile app for iOS and Android features the option in beta, while the ROG Xbox Ally handheld is expected to receive its official launch during the holidays this year. This integration will allow support in the game without exiting or pausing.

Aggregated Gaming Library: All Games, One Place

This update’s most notable feature is the aggregated gaming library. Xbox is testing the waters on this on the new ROG Xbox Ally handheld and more in the future. Players will be able to launch games from Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net, and other major PC stores within a single library in the Xbox PC app very soon. Gamers will have access to every title in their library – including games from third-party publishers – on a Windows PC or a portable device.

Microsoft has started integrating Battle.net. More PC stores will follow. Get ready to join up with Steam. It is for gamers who utilize different storefronts to gain a streamlined experience and more options all in one place. Right now, the feature is open to all Xbox Insider Program members for preview and will roll out to everyone later. The fact that users can sort and browse by publisher, like EA, Riot, Ubisoft, and more, demonstrates Xbox’s strong partnerships and makes it easier to discover items in Game Pass.

Enhanced Customisation and New Features for Console Users

June update enhance the customization on console players. With this, users can now rearrange the layout for the recently played games and apps list on their home page, conceal system apps, pin their favourites and hide the number of visible tiles to make it sleeker and more appealing.

There’s also the new game hubs feature, which lets you quickly pull up stats, your friends’ activity, achievements, and more before you launch a game. This feature helps players monitor their progress and check what they’ve achieved in-game.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is getting improved visibility and management for cloud saves across devices.  With the new feature, players can finally see progress bars, device names and timestamps for unsynced saves, helping reduce confusion and the risk of losing progress when switching between multiple consoles or PCs.

Game Library Expansion and Retro Classics

Xbox is still growing, adding new titles with mouse and keyboard or touch support on Game Pass, as well as more retro games through the Retro Classics app. Games like Cosmic Commuter and Heart of China have already made the cut, with more to come in time.  In addition, additional games will be added to Xbox Play Anywhere.

Xbox at Gamescom 2025

Looking ahead, Xbox has confirmed its return to Gamescom 2025, alongside Bethesda Softworks and Blizzard Entertainment.  In the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Blizzard will unveil Midnight and track five days of community, along with several releases from Bethesda. Expect more information about how Xbox plans to evolve its platform and any game announcements during Gamescom in Cologne from 20th-24th August.

Sales Data and Industry Updates

Xbox also shared key sales milestones for major titles. Age of Empires IV surpassed 4 million copies sold and continues to do well after launching on the console. Dune Awakening sold over 1 million copies shortly after launch and had an impressive amount of players on Steam.

THQ Nordic will hold a digital showcase on 1 August 2025, featuring world premieres and updates on the games. One of them is TMNT: The Last Ronin.

Studio Troubles: Build a Rocket Boy’s Difficulties

However, not all industry news is positive. Build a Rocket Boy, the Mind’s Eye developer, is reportedly laying off much of its workforce following a game flop. It has been reported that more than 100 staff could be impacted as the studio undergoes a formal consultation process due to the unsuccessful launch of the game, and also due to the lack of marketing support.

Looking Forward

According to a recent Xbox update video that was posted a week ago, the future will have a single library for different games, both console and PC. With new info on the horizon at upcoming events, Xbox seems determined to push gaming toward a more linked, player-focused future.
